Twelve Swan Rangers skied to Mission Lookout on a wonderfully sunny Saturday, January 5!

The snow was very good and the Rangers saw tracks of coyote, deer and moose!

Swan Rangers Ski Krause-Strawberry Loop

Thirteen Swan Rangers skied a loop up Krause Basin and down the Strawberry Lake Road on Saturday, December 29.

The last outing of 2012 was the 370th Saturday outing since they were started in November 2005!

The Rangers are trying hard to wear the snow out in Krause Basin, but it's a hard area to grow tired of!

Swan Rangers Ski Peterson Creek!

Five Swan Rangers skied the Peterson Creek Road, then hiked up Peterson Creek Trail on Saturday, December 22, 2012.

They ate lunch and turned around at the usual spot, just short of the Sidehill Trail intersection.

Swan Rangers Ski Krause-Peters Loop

Ten Swan Rangers skied and snowshoed a loop up Krause Creek and down Peters Ridge Road Saturday, December 15.

After a few warm days, a bit of fresh snow brought conditions back up to "very good!"

Seven Swan Rangers skied and snowshoed two feet of fresh snow in Krause Basin Saturday, December 8.

What was a foot deep at Foothill Road became two feet at Cottonwood Bottom, with hemlock trees fully loaded and Rangers taking turns breaking trail!

Swan Rangers Hike to Elk Springs

Nine Swan Rangers hiked up to Elk Springs on Broken Leg Mountain Saturday, December 1.

It was a slightly drizzly day, but the grizzly bear tracks found at Elk Springs were awesome!

Swan Rangers Hike and Clear Strawberry Lake Trail

Twelve Swan Rangers hiked and cleared all but one too-large-for-handsaw deadfall from the Strawberry Lake Trail on Saturday, November 17.

It was a balmy day and days-old grizzly bear tracks were seen. It's a couple weeks late for swimming!

Swan Rangers Hike and Clear Deadfall from Echo-Broken Leg Trail

Twelve Swan Rangers hiked and cleared most deadfall from the Echo-Broken Leg Trail on Saturday, November 10.

They went as far as Wolf Creek on a chilly day and enjoyed ice formations along Birch and Deer creeks as well!

Swan Rangers Hike and Clear Switchback Trail

Eight Swan Rangers hiked the Switchback Trail on Saturday, November 3, with two lagging behind to clear deadfall from the trail.

Nice views of golden larch across both hillside and valley bottom were surpassed only by sights and photos of fungi, moss, and burned snags!
